Case Studies

A closer look at three projects that show how I work – from the initial brief through to final delivery, across video, design and brand communications.

Zempire Camping Equipment

Role: Product Content Creator

Overview: Leading video and photography content for Zempire’s camping equipment range – product photography, videography, training content and setup guides, delivered across web, YouTube and social.

My role: End-to-end – ideation and planning, directing shoots (field and studio), shooting, editing, and final delivery across every digital channel. I also support the in-house graphic designer on print collateral when needed.

Process: Each release starts with understanding the product and the audience problem it solves, then building a shoot plan around that – balancing product clarity with brand storytelling, often shooting on location.

Outcome: Consistent, high-quality content supporting a growing product range across multiple channels and formats.

Spotlight: Air Beam spare parts – 3D modelling Zempire’s Air Beam tent frames involve multiple components that customers need to identify correctly when ordering spare parts – a process that was previously hard to follow from photos or diagrams alone. I built 3D models of the Air Beam frames, with individual components highlighted, so customers can visually identify exactly which part they need. This turned a confusing, error-prone selection process into a clear, self-serve one – reducing guesswork for customers and, in turn, incorrect orders and support queries.

Cannasouth Group

Role: Content Creator and Marketing Coordinator

Overview: Led content and design from Cannasouth’s journey to a 2019 NZX listing, through to their first product launches in 2023. Video, photography and graphic design for broadcast, PR and social, plus all IPO collateral.

My role: In-house photography and video. Oversaw design of IPO collateral, managed third-party contractors and agencies aligning creative decision-making with our brand guidelines, produced educational leaflets and animated infographics, and contributed to product brand architecture — while also running the company’s digital presence (CMS, SEO, eDM).

Process: Complex, regulated information needed to be translated into content that was accessible to prescribers, patients and investors alike – balancing accuracy, compliance and clarity.

Outcome: A cohesive brand and communications presence across corporate, investor and product touchpoints through major company milestones.

Te Wānanga o Aotearoa

Role: Visual Content Producer

Overview: Led a small animation team to direct and produce an award-winning web series — Platinum for Best Online Learning Model and Silver for Best Bite-Sized Learning at the 2018 LearnX Awards.

My role: Team leadership, animation direction, and production across video, photography and motion for corporate communications, marketing and educational resources.

Process: Worked closely with subject-matter experts to translate educational content into engaging, bite-sized visual formats for internal and public learners.

Outcome: Award-winning series recognised industry-wide; contributed to an in-house production programme that saved the organisation approximately $900,000 annually versus licensed training content.
